However, even the most robust systems encounter challenges, and in 2021, ICS faced a significant hurdle in exceptions management under the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). VP of Business Solutions at the 3PL, Jeff Primeau shared his frustration with the complexities of exceptions management.
With hundreds of orders processed inbound and thousands outbound, the inevitability of errors in data exchange weighed heavily on Primeau’s mind. Handling exceptions and reconciling data manually to meet DSCSA's interoperability requirement would demand time and people with specific expertise.
Upon hearing that Cencora was using LSPedia’s Investigator, Primeau became interested in this game-changing solution to address his pain points head-on. Investigator provides a comprehensive and automated approach to exceptions management. By validating Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS) data automatically, it categorizes errors efficiently, covering a spectrum from master data errors to DSCSA compliance issues.
ICS’s implementation of Investigator in 2022 marked a turning point for the 3PL. Over the past two years, this solution has not only been operational across all their manufacturer customers but has also yielded remarkable results. Here are some highlights:
- Cut down on the necessity of adding FTEs to help manually correct errors. Cencora uses LSPedia's solution to automate error notification and enable trading partners to resolve down errors via self-service in the LSPedia OneScan platform. This nipped the need for the company to hire 90 FTE in 2020.
- As the result of ICS's excellent data quality, their customers achieved 5-star supplier data quality ratings by the 900+ trading partners in the LSPedia Supply Chain Cloud.
