Incredible as it is, today, there are exactly eleven months left before the Drug Supply Chain Security Act goes into effect.

That means pharmaceutical trading partners who haven’t begun preparing yet are, frankly, behind schedule. Amid multiple areas of progress, the Healthcare Distribution Alliance repeatedly warned in its findings from its annual survey that too many companies are leaving too much to do.

So, what’s the best way to get started with DSCSA? Like all good New Year’s Resolutions, it can begin with a list.

• Learn about how to set up interoperable connections with each of your trading partners.
• Get help implementing DSCSA serialization and verification for your supply chain operations.

• Determine who in your organization should be your DSCSA subject expert, and get them specialized compliance training.

DSCSA is hard, complex, even transformational. However, none of these steps are impossible. The earlier you begin preparing, the easier DSCSA will be.
