Drug supply chain experts gather at HDA conference

I’m just back from the Healthcare Distribution Alliance very informative and impressive 2019 Distribution Management Conference and Expo in Palm Desert, Calif. With more than 600 manufacturers, distributors, consultants and others from the healthcare supply chain, it was three fascinating days of ideas about operations, strategies, and – of course – the industrywide changes prompted by the Drug Supply Chain Security Act.

It was an honor to sponsor six panels at the conference.

That included an overview of the DSCSA for pharma industry newbies, as well as an update on the latest developments in complying with these sweeping new FDA regulations. LSPediA was privileged to sponsor both of those panels, as well as four others on the topics of traceability and advanced supply chain technologies.

Getting to know conference visitors at our private dinner.

Just as informative was a wonderful dinner we hosted with nearly two dozen industry colleagues and clients, from some of the biggest companies in pharma to some of the most innovative. It also gave me a chance to show off LSPediA ‘s turnkey serialization and verification router service solutions.

I got to see many others from the supply chain world in the expo hall, as attendees dropped by the LSPediA booth with their questions and to see a live demonstration of Verifier®, our VRS solution already in place and has successfully performed tens of thousands of scans in just a few short months.

We’re frequently in touch with McKesson Corp., so it was a pleasure to see Scott Mooney, McKesson’s vice president of distribution operations, was honored for his contributions to the healthcare distribution industry with the HDA’s 2019 Distribution Management Award for Industry Leadership.

The HDA also presented the 2019 Distribution Management Award for companies that lead collaborative projects to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and safety of the supply chain. This year, the alliance recognized AbbVie US; AmerisourceBergen Corp.; Genentech, a of the Roche Group; McKesson Corp. and Pfizer for their work in developing the MediLedger Project, a blockchain-enabled traceability initiative.
